Description

The Board of Directors is a vital part of Del-Mor Dwellings, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to support the organization’s mission of offering safe, affordable, and supportive housing. Board members play a key role in shaping strategy, ensuring accountability, and strengthening community partnerships.

This position requires attending regular board meetings in Delaware, Ohio, and participating in committee work or special initiatives as needed.

As a board member, you will contribute your expertise and perspective to help residents maintain stability and independence while advancing the long-term sustainability of the organization. Title: Board Member

Reports to: Board Chair

Term: 3 years (renewable for one additional term)

 

Position Summary:

The Board Member is a voting member of the Board of Directors and serves as a representative of the nonprofit. The Board Member’s primary responsibilities are to ensure the organization meets its mission to provide supportive housing and related services to those in need, contribute to the governance and strategic direction of the nonprofit, and support fundraising and community engagement efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1.      Governance & Oversight:

  • Attend and actively participate in all board meetings, typically held monthly, and any special meetings as
  • Review and approve the organization’s mission, strategic plans, and significant policies.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the organization’s financial performance and ensure proper financial controls are in

2.      Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the nonprofit’s strategic plan.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Executive Director and senior leadership team.
  • Help identify and leverage resources to advance the nonprofit’s goals and objectives.

3.      Fundraising and Resource Development:

  • Assist in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and
  • Make a personal financial contribution to the organization, reflective of one’s means and in line with board
  • Actively participate in fundraising events and
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, partners, and sponsors.

4.      Advocacy and Community Engagement:

  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization in the
  • Advocate for supportive housing and related services to policymakers, stakeholders, and the
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, partners, and other stakeholders.

5.      Committee Participation:

  • Serve on at least one board committee, such as Finance, Directorship & Governance, or
  • Contribute to the committee’s work and objectives, providing expertise and support as

6.      Board Development:

  • Assist in identifying and recruiting new board
  • Participate in board training and development
  • Support the evaluation of board performance and implementation of improvement

Commitment:

  • Attend at least 75% of board meetings and assigned committee
  • Participate in board retreats, training sessions, and strategic planning
  • Support and participate in major organizational events and fundraising
  • Allocate sufficient time to effectively fulfill board
